Editorial Review

The Add-Drop date does not provide enough time to sort out our schedule for the new semester.

The essay is directed to the student body. It is intended to strike up conversation and to formulate opinions. It is also to gather people of the same supportive cause to bring action of change to the school.

The purpose of doing so involves my personal experience at BYU. Since this is the University that I'm attending, BYU should consider their students, such as me, to better their educational program. Now is the time to act since I will be spending four years of my life devoted to it. Since Colleges are meant to benefit your future, shouldn't it consider what you want in that future?

Trustful Opinion

There are many influential people out in the world today that can sway opinions with such ease that it can be dangerous. But I know of a special pair that I can always trust, and they are my parents. Being their child gives me an advantage here since I've lived with them for many years. I know their intentions with me will always be for the benefit of my well being. I know their affection towards me is real since their childhood has also been around the same kind of concept of a loving family. Even though their opinions of the world might be different, we still share similar beliefs and ideals.

Discourse Community January 12, 2009

A discourse community is a group of people usually within the same living conditions who are are defined by that area by language and beliefs. There are an endless amount of these types of groups. A church congregation within a small town can be sectioned as a discourse community. A college full of students can be placed under this same category. When one is affected by this discourse community, their language and ideals are much different than other discourse communities. Example, beliefs in the west coast and slang will be much different than the east coast.

Hello

Hey Travis,
This is Ryan. I'm in your twelve o'clock class. You'll probably pick me out of the class since I stick out like a sore thumb. Well to explain, I'm Chinese. I enjoy skiing and basketball. I am terrible at writing so you shouldn't look forward to anything. Well that's my life. Nice to meet you.

Ryan Lew
Ryan,

Will you go back to your settings page and re-invite me as a viewer of this blog instead of as an author? Thanks!

BYU looks to start new streak By Matt Payne - 6 Jan 2009

At the beginning of the season, the BYU basketball team started off with flying colors and showed much potential for the year. It seems that all BYU sports seem to deceive its fans all in the same way. Take the BYU Football team for example. We start on a great streak but eventually lose steam and fall against stronger competitors. This has always been a problem for our school sports. The article gives a false sense of hope as it teases readers the slight possibility of the team to go somewhere. But in reality, these next few games will eventually mean nothing when we go against a ranked school. The players point out their practicing that will make them better but the teams never seem to improve. We stay the same and eventually we will be disappointed as usual.
